JiveTalk - Still Guv’nin EP (inc. Voigtmann and Thoma Bulwer Remixes).

Fresh off the back of their release of the Ghost’s label (Ghost Rec) Jive Talk deliver a naughty bassline driven A-side “Still Guvn’in’” and deeper garage flex on the B-side. Voigtmann’s remix is probably the house-iest or Claus-iest we’ve heard from the top draw selector and producer. It’s a hands up in the air ‘Classique’ sounding remix for “any-time of the night track”, to quote Enzo.

Following a series of VA EPs, Broken District releases its first mini LP: “South Side” by Sofatalk. The collaboration between the label and the Italian artist feels natural, as they share a mutual vision of music, a nifty blend of jazz and soul-influenced electronic music landscape. Throughout the 6 tracks of “South Side”, SofaTalk explores and twists jazz, broken beat, house music and funk, resulting in the most accomplished work to date for the producer, but also for the label.
Old friends John Cravache and I:Cube teamed up to release Chimère Fm’s debut album on Versatile records.Endless improvised studio sessions seamlessly blending electronic synthesis and post dada cinematics.Dreamy synth funk rubs against pagan rhythms and minimalist electronic drones. This album will take you to soundwave paradise.Chimère Fm is an imaginary radio station broadcasting its stellar weirdness livefrom Paris !
Bristol’s Remotif makes his highly-awaited debut on space•lab with his wormhole of a new EP, ‘Substation Fever’. Kicking things off on the A side, the title track enters the scene with spacious, organic drums, building in energy as we tunnel through its course; travelling from the cool, oxygenated air of a forest-scape into dazzling, far-reaching intergalactic realms.Next up, ‘Substation Fever’ gets a dreamy reimagining courtesy of Leeds legend and space•lab regular, Adam Pits. Channelling the energy of Remotif’s original into a hazy, blissed-out cloudscape, this track was made for accompanying early morning sunrises where orange-hued dashes of light reflect off the surface of gently rippling water. On the flip side, ‘Hi Tek Lo Life’, crackles with the fluctuating electrical impulses of a TV without signal or a radio between channels. Flecked with corroded vocal samples and billowing synthlines, this is a track that explores the inbetween - the moment when connection is almost lost, but not quite. There is a beauty in the roughened-edges of these partially obscured details. The final track of the EP, ‘The Signal Prevails’ is perhaps an answer to its precursor. Opening out onto trip-hop-esque terrain, this track follows the path set out by a blurred-out, echoing vocal as it deftly works its way through narrow, winding pathways of powerful 90s-style breaks.A much-loved DJ regularly making an appearance on space•lab’s lineups, we are delighted to now showcase Remotif’s skill in the studio with this mind-opening new EP.
Celebrating their 10th release, Tresydos presents a two-part special edition featuring artists that are already part of the family along with some new faces. On this first part of the Number 10 release, Anderson is back with his signature sound giving a strong start to the EP. For A2, Tresydos welcomes Velvet Velour and his fresh take on house music. On the flip side, Babu also debuts on the label with “Luna” and its retro futuristic tones, followed by Penelope’s track “Gathering” which had already been released on Bandcamp and due to popular demand is now on vinyl format.
White Scar, sublabel of Subterranean Odyssey, is back for its second instalment. The next feature is called the “The Judge’s Head” and true to the theme for White Scar it features four tracks from four different producers.Eliaz returns on the A1 with “Spaceventura” which is more of the mayhem that you come to expect from the Slovenian given his releases so far. A2 is from Uruguayan producer Estef, with “Roto” a club-ready weapon which already has and will continue to tear up dancefloors upon release. On the flip side, B1 is from Colombia based, Buraye, and true to form, he delivers “Towering Vortex” - a hypnotic techno workout. Finally, on the B2 is “Moon” by Nay, who is an up and coming producer from Liverpool, UK. Big things to come from him, you will no doubt hear much more from Nay in the future!
All (label, artist and distribution) proceeds of this next record will go to UNHCR, The UN Refugee Agencys' emergency interventions in Ukraine.Third and closing chapter of the Oyster Tribe series, the revised single edition of Brent Lewis ‘1739’ oozes a mix of breezy outback dreamtime, red earth funk and sun-baked drum virtuosity. Originally issued in 2004 as part of his self-released ‘Drumsex’ album, Lewis’ mystique-imbued tune sculpts a tripped-out hybrid jam out of spoon percs and folk-infused broken beat; and who better than OZ home-boys FIO and Fantastic Man to add their masters' spin to that totemic chugger.Whilst FIO cranks the BPMs a notch further and beefs up the bass to turn the OG mix into a serious contender for countryside banger of the year, Fantastic Man plays havoc with the whole of Lewis track’s DNA sequence, slicing, dicing and re-hashing its bits and bobs over and over again to form a Southerner variant of the Frankenstein creature, all sight set on busting dancefloors by the dozen.
