Guy Contact, ONO Records, Vinyl Records, House, Techno, Progressive House, Chat Noir distribution, Chat Noir Store,

Following a string of acclaimed releases in 2021 ONO Records is pleased to welcome homegrown hero Guy Contact for ONO002. The prolific producer presents a collection of masterful house music that hearkens back to a bygone era whilst remaining utterly contemporary.

Dive into Side A with the driving peak time energy of the title track, Desert Portal. A propulsive rhythm keeps the feet steppin’ amongst choral synthesisers, complete with a healthy dose of slap bass tension. An excursion into entrancing downtempo styles follows. Cue the chugging rhythms, lightly bubbling acid and new age enlightenment of Aquavision and One Hand One Bounce.

The tempo rises again on Side B with the opener, Spinifex Drum. A dreamy introduction teases before erupting into early 90’s prog-house mania, sure to send the dancefloor spinning. A similar functionality pursues on the closing track There Is No Orb boasting a hard hitting beat laying foundation for lashing acid and circuit tweaking bleeps.

Welcome to Is A Feeling, a brand new label presumably from Triform who is also known as Scott Featherstone, and Beyond A Void, and Lemongrass. He has a kick for digging deep into his archives to turn out old but still godlier tackle and we guess that Underground Grooves Vol 01 is another such project. This 2" packs plenty of irresistible heat with the lively and low slung drums of 'Take Control', silvery tech edges of 'Skipron' and best of all, the raw, jacked up house of 'Remember Me.' All three are timeless and very useful tunes.
Double Stars; often orbiting in tandem and gravitationally bound together, are usually mistaken as a singular light. An unmistakable parallel to the Space Cadets, Leeds trail blazers Lisene and Adam Pits join in magnetic union for Planet Euphorique’s big 1-5 to showcase their sole vision; superior prog synergy. Warp Drive gets flung into hyperdrive by your local enigma Rudolf C and the B side is a case of nuclear audio fission, splitting the duo so their individual and technical flair can shine. No doubt you’ve crossed paths with something hot on this disc in the encompassing party atmosphere; four straight up essentials for a function of chaos. The title track breaks in the EP with frisky righteous drums, precision in rhythm; swinging stylishly. Cosmos loom within reach, infinite rolling with baselines built for the long haul; an expertise in tension and release revealed through sonic sweeps and delicate filter explorations. A match made in heaven, Rudolf C has been gliding on similar trajectories; elevating the Warp Drive to a celestial level; the Psychedelic Envisionment accentuating the original's intricacies whilst maintaining the swagged flow and dancefloor steeze. Distorted pulsations and modulations swirl above head to signal the B side split show; driving bass anchoring the higher frequency expeditions, Lisene mastering the spectrum of sounds with Moral Panic and breaking up the 4/4 pursuit. Meanwhile Adam Pits closes things out with an ethereal highway drive; cruising, twinkling and boasting telescopic trance like skills.A perfectly balanced blend of modern, innovative and familiar, veteran status technological slick hits; you’re in good hands.
Dutch master of aethereal atmospheres Bohm is back on EYA’s sister label Lonewolf with the missing piece of his ‘Leaving Earth’ series. A1 ‘Stars and the Sun’ is a slow-break meditative number, while “Move over” is bleepy and playful.B1 “Phasmofonia” is a spooky, haunting and nervous ready-for-dancefloor track. Closing the artist’s journey to vast galaxies is “Robot Heaven”, an emotional electro trip of the highest order.
On ”Loos EP”, Stockholm-based producer and DJ Ari Bald returns to Västkransen Records with three original tracks aimed for the dance floor. The record’s self-titled main track is a peaktime tune whose stabbing chords, flowing pads and hypnotizing bassline testify to Ari’s love for Kerri Chandler. On the B-side, the dreamy ”Fluff” explores the boundaries between modern Nordic disco and classic house. The record closes with ”Peachy Streets”, an 80s-leaning house track co-produced with DJ Hasse from Bike Thieves. If ”Loos EP” doesn’t get your party started, we’re not sure of what will.
