Finest Hour delivers its first 2 x LP, “Universal Voyage”, courtesy of Ukrainian up and coming producer Aliana, seamlessly matching the label’s aesthetics with her non-conformist sound offering hints of minimalist neo-detroit house and early 90s electro as well as UK tech-house influences. After a little sabbatical year, Finest Hour comes back with a subtle bang, presenting its first full cover artwork cover in the process.

Solo album by Betonkust (Dutch for Concrete Coast). The vinyl comes with a booklet containing drum patterns used on the album, together with a download link of the original samples that you can use for your own music. This record includes a Bandcamp download code for the digital files. Short bio from Betonkust: I was born in Utrecht (1988). I grew up in a very small town somewhere between Amsterdam, Utrecht, and Hilversum. The so-called 'green heart' of the Netherlands. That means there's lots of nature. It was very boring and/or normal. A typical Dutch 1990s upbringing. I've been listening to house music for as long as I can remember. On cassette tapes, on the radio, it was everywhere. Now I live in Rotterdam and there's a lot going on, mainly in the area of electronic music. There is Operator Radio, Clone, Pinkman, etc. Most of my friends are involved in music in some way. The older I get the less I care about gear. I didn't use any expensive or exotic stuff. Korg Electribes (both the sampler and the synth), Korg M1, some Boss effects pedals, a cheap mixer, a Shure SM57 mic, a cheap guitar. For this album everything was recorded in FL Studio. Some tracks on the album started like five years ago with a melody and slowly developed into a full song. Other songs were made one month before mastering. It really depends. But most of the work was done in 2020 and 2021. I think most of this album is about transience, giving up, the infinite sadness of humanity.

French producer, DJ and RDV (Recit de Voyage) label owner returns to the label this April with her ‘Thoughts Of Day’ EP, accompanied by remixes from Giegling’s Koreander and Fred P. Since launching the RDV Music imprint in 2017, Molly has welcomed an array of up-and-coming talent and long-time respected figures in the contemporary house and techno scene onto the imprint, such as Dana Ruh, Cosmin TRG, Wbeeza, Aybee, Orion and many more. Here though, Molly steps into the spotlight herself with a new full-length EP for the label, the vinyl version features two originals and two remixes, while a further two originals will surface as bonus cuts on the digital release. First up on the EP is the original mix of ‘ It Feels Like It Only Goes Backwards’, encapsulating Molly’s signature deep aesthetic via hazy atmospherics and swirling dub textures, floating atop a bouncy sub bass groove and swinging, organic drums. Kettenkarussel member Koreander’s ‘Final Relief Remix’ of ‘It Feels Like It Only Goes Backwards’ follows, offering an ambient twist on the original version, taking the hypnotic elements, and reshaping them into a murky, subtly unfurling six and a half minute beatless interpretation. Next up on the flip side, Fred P reworks ‘Sweet Afternoon’, delivering a typically classy deep house cut driven by a choppy bass line, bright string stabs and crisp, bumpy drums. Molly’s ‘Mercure’ then completes the package, embracing a more groove driven feel as plucked bass notes, swelling subs, mesmerising synth flutters, and swinging drums develop in a subtly nuanced fashion throughout.

Exploring hybrid music styles and outernational, borderless musical influences, DJ soFa’s Elsewhere compilation series continues with a sixth instalment, and the second to appear on Kalahari Oyster Cult.Always ahead of the tide, the Kalahari Oyster is a fine specimen when it comes to the discipline of next-level sound-snooping. Meticulously curated by Belgian sonic globetrotter soFa, Elsewhere XX showcases a dozen outstanding tunes, each dwelling in their own personal space between the imaginary worlds of post-kraut, DIY synth-punk and odd-pop ballads.Melting these genres with contemporary club music is the mission here. Doused in a thick fog of arcane machine talk, tribal rhythms and cosmic synths, Elsewhere XX is an invitation to escape the hall of LED-backlit mirrors that we’ve so mistakenly come to call our “reality”.Gathering artists from all corners of the globe – including Radio Hito, Anatolian Weapons, Eylul Deniz, Dame Area and Electronic Body Girl – soFa’s curation lays the groundwork for a unique and thoroughly immersive listening and dancing experience.
