Cape Town based DJ & producer Saunter is up next on Chat Noir Tools ! His debut EP is comprised of four bleepy house tunes blending nostalgic feels, peak-time euphoria, spacey and ravey sounds. This toasty four-tracker is unashamedly and sturdily grooved-out, packed with warm depth, and a playful attitude.
Prolific 90's house maestro Maurizio Verbeni strikes again on Digging Deeper . After stellar past releases on UMM , MBG Records , Discomagic , UMD amongst others his rare and original release on Trancebeat from 1992 with his aka PDQ gets a full re-issue and remaster. Not everybody understand house music
Three slices of unashamedly old skool (two) stepping action from the Above Sound label and TwoStep2 aka DJ Relay and Jo Public, that'll transport you back to the Sunday scene and UKG's earliest days. On this EP's lead track 'Give Me Some Of That' the duo perfectly catch that intersection between rave elements - the wispy, eerie synths and pitch shifted vocals - and the sophisticated shuffle of American garage. 'Drop The Bass (2022 Remaster)' leans slightly more towards the hardcore flavour, its choppier beats more evocative of the inspired syncopations of breakstep, while 'What's Gonna Happen' is the trippiest and most optimistic sounding of the three while still packing plenty of rhythmic punch.
Dutch master of aethereal atmospheres Bohm is back on EYA’s sister label Lonewolf with the missing piece of his ‘Leaving Earth’ series. A1 ‘Stars and the Sun’ is a slow-break meditative number, while “Move over” is bleepy and playful.B1 “Phasmofonia” is a spooky, haunting and nervous ready-for-dancefloor track. Closing the artist’s journey to vast galaxies is “Robot Heaven”, an emotional electro trip of the highest order.
For our fourth record we have DZ’s take on spaced out, dub infused techno house. On the A side expect heavy bass, delayed guitars, breaks and echoing vocals throughout. Followed by the B side taking a step down in tempo and intensity.
As they were working their asses off on their respective projects last year, these two lads came together to deliver a not so formal four-handed introductive dance record. The purpose is crystal clear : one record capturing through three maximalists club tracks, both their obsession for digressive New Beat, Rave-infused House and in the background, dirty breakbeats bumping into thick Emo pads of Italo Disco or some leftfield Post Punk music. Those two were too young to experience the post-Disco big bang which occurred between 88 to 94, but they manage to embrace the spirit and twist it without any shame. Far from contemplating the European dance legacy, they bend it to create a second merciless big bang, right to the face. By that way, they offer you, happy raving people, these three restless pieces that are 200% coherent on their holy belief of a « Maximal Dance » aesthetic.
