The eight track journey begins with Timothy Smith of 90s American darkwave band Lestat along with Pat Berdysz and Mekena Berdysz under their View So Cruel guise, “Corpses” is the blackened offering. A blend of styles and voices coalesce in this bright and burnt work. Colombia’s Ravetop follows, rich textured rhythms support scaling synthlines and distant vocals. Acid squawk and looming menace are the ingredients of Ruksby’s romp before Dragée presents an insurmountable wall of string and reverb in “Chapter VI.” The flip brings old friends back into the fold as well as welcoming new names. Canada’s Red Mass conspires with Lieutenant Freebase with unsettling results while Croatia’s Honored Matres returns with the bent and buckled bars and beats of “Sisterhood.” Diana Berti delivers a powerful psychological soundtrack, “Neptune”, before 80s band Simbolo from Brazil closes proceedings with the absorbing analogue abstraction of “For A Better File.” Eight pieces from far and wide, eight tracks that transcend borders and genre tags.

AGT Records are back for number 008 and the smoke machine is on full blast.Christian Llopis put out a handful of releases in the early 2000’s, each capturing the progressive machine-groove of the time, but with his own signature twist and turn that made his sound stand apart from his contemporaries. The Lobster Tan EP, first released in 2005 on Play. Out. Right. Now. Recordings, shows offhis unique style perfectly. Each track has its own distinct personality while maintaining a relentless momentum that throws each kick drum into the next. The title track ‘Lobster Tan’ has an almost elastic groove in the low end, balanced deftly with swirling samples and melody lines. ‘Simulation’ is a more heady offering, perfect for those late night/ early morning moments where the heads are down and the lights are low. Themood is sinister, and its growling bassline and vocal samples barrel the tune forwards. Pick of the bunch is ‘Back in the Day’, a tribal roller that combines organic melody lines and pads with an ever-evolving bassline that will refresh any discerning dance floor back into life.Llopis is an expert at keeping things subtle while moving the gears, and this release is a prime example of prog done right. We are happy to have this one back on the shelves, all in good time.
Elon Dust’s Sex Tapes From Mars imprint gives Victorious’s 90’s “Play Safe EP” new life, with three remastered house emeralds."All My Love” stands alone on the A-side, and Victorious has successfully bottled the magic of classic house music, delivering a track that strikes brilliance being both timeless and timely. It's a soulful, uplifting affair, sharing an emotive yet slinky journey through rich, sultry vocals and a vintage melody that breaths deep with warmth, swing and euphoria. On the flip, “Can You Feel It” is anchored by dubby, shuffling drums that provide a hypnotic groove, and Victors voice yet again delivers a performance that is as enigmatic as it is intoxicating, layering the track with a sensual, almost haunting allure.A wiggly bassline sets a playful yet driving tone on “Do It To Me”. Spacey synths glide then sweep in, building an atmosphere that is both expansive and intimate, perfectly primed for the after-hours. Each element is carefully placed to serve the groove, making "Do It To Me" a masterclass in restraint. It’s a track designed to move bodies without unnecessary flair, relying on its raw energy and drive to carry the listener. This is house music in its purest, finest and most functional form.
Petit Koala. The truly magnificent creatures that roam our planet and who knows, maybe some others too. Could be a koala bunch of aliens which come to the earth to study our species if that’s so, there is hardly a better way to communicate with them than with interstellar music. This release is crafted in a spaceship located in sunny city called Barcelona by a Spanish producer Ildec. Ildec has presented 3 original tracks specially for Exarde exploring his darker side which he flawlessly executes. The A2 of the vinyl record is gracing with the remix. On the remix duties we have two Italian stallions, an outstanding liveact and friendship formed between Otis and Paul Lution who have contributed a pronounced sound manipulation resulting in an outstanding audio piece.
Returning for a 2nd time this year, Duowe delve deep into the obscure and darker soundscapes of their synths & plug-ins. 4 cuts of tightly stripped drum grooves, haunting basslines and crowd controlling vocals designed for peak-time club & festival activity.Paying tribute to the past techy electro scene while setting the tone for the future, it captures the listeners' imagination with it’s fusion of moody ambiance and electro-tinged melodies.Time to send the crowd into a trance with the Coldharbour Sidewinder!
44 Tours unites it's local artists to fulfill the prophecy a drunk shaolin-cyborg once told them. The four robotic monks stepping up for this EP (Alder, Same O, Marino & Berg Jaär) have each developed their own secret breaksy adventure tactics to combat a future led by brotherhoods of wealthy capitalistic humanoids. ALDER opens up the fight in pure detroit-electro style. Nested pads nestled in a huge palette of colors and tones which takes us to a galaxy far, far away. Next is SAME O, despite being the youngest padawan is still showing some ghetto and ballsy moves. Wavy and snaky synthwork over a fast think-break pattern and a ravy bassline, no less of a banger here. Breaking through to the other side: the most loyal soldier on the team, MARINO aka the cat yelling at man. He delivers a 303-driven weapon that will break any cyborg neck for sure. The end is surely near, to finish up BERG-JAÄR drops a bassy polyrhythmic manoeuvre, the attention is focused on the complexity of drums and a minimalistic and grooving approach throughout the track. Fight is over, humanoids. The future is saved from the capitalist robots, their world of Confrérie, Pactole & Dividendes is over. Or is it?
Initially born in 2016 with a number of warehouse and DIY events, the Leeds based collective set sights on their label vision during 2017-2020 after opening a studio within the infamous Mabgate Mills. The debut EP captures the tales of many hours of expression spent within Mabgate via four artists closely connected to the project. Rising producer and Perspective boss Kepler brings a dreamy-tinged vision to the A-side, alongside the talented Midge Thompson bringing that lively Leeds energy. Residents Nikol and Keefy G mark their debut release on the flip side with two vibrant jams concluding this versatile EP.
