Following a series of VA EPs, Broken District releases its first mini LP: “South Side” by Sofatalk. The collaboration between the label and the Italian artist feels natural, as they share a mutual vision of music, a nifty blend of jazz and soul-influenced electronic music landscape. Throughout the 6 tracks of “South Side”, SofaTalk explores and twists jazz, broken beat, house music and funk, resulting in the most accomplished work to date for the producer, but also for the label.
Back with his second release on DEMO TEST, Roy Vision explores the different layers of an original, raw and multidisciplinary house music.“4” represents 4 variation styles that the producer fell for many years ago. The selected tracks were produced between 2017 and 2019, with dance in his sight, as demonstrated by the success of the track “La Danse Groove” in the eyes of House Dance lovers."Nina’s Talk" give off strong and mastered rhythmics; the energy of the tracks sends us directly to New Jersey of the 90’s. “Feelings” stays geographically close since it crawls in underground New York, where jazz and house music met. “LL Tribute” is a spiritual connection between Chicago and NYC. It’s a hidden tribute to one of the main characters of the underground New York scene, between The Loft and Paradise Garage, where all social and cultural background were blending, dreaming of a passionate freedom.
Solenoid is back with SLN019, this time Label owner Erta Ale shares the sides with the welcomed Italian duo we.ampsConnection, vibrations and affinity - all aspects that bring together a remarkable release between the two producers.'Suck my/ Oblivious' is the perfect example of the meaning of connection and keeping true to one's own “style”.'Drummy ya' is the essence of being eclectic and simultaneously dance floor oriented. A stormy chord combined with a twisty acid melody that clashes on the unexpected vocal break, moving onto the second part of the track where a stormy loop becomes raw and gritty yet arranged in an intentional and accurate manner. 'Suck my' is fast and "break" with a 4/4 beat making the arrangement experienced, at the same time , the electro baseline with the deep male vocal, throws the listener into its vortex of sound. Side B showcases Erta's experimental breakbeat track “Oblivious” , perfect for a sophisticated dance floor or a radio podcast. The last track “Odyssey” is one of the most intimate and hypnotic tracks by the record label owner. An atmospheric and even sentimental track which was created during his last South African tour.
Electrodefender is back with a bang, serving up his signature West Coast influenced electro. These are for the floor! Limited to 100 black vinyl copies & 50 red vinyl.
Sound the alarms, red-hot new label Spray has checked in for round two; nummer zwei.. though far from dry; with Leisureplex, a suspiciously proficient debut from Dublin’s Drua. Joining the prog-parade full steam ahead, the 3 tracker dabbles in tech trance activity with a bonus remix from Berlin’s backbone Mor Elian. The enigmatic newcomer showcasing mature structural bliss, crafted for moments of subconscious synchronicity between the dj and their dancers.Breaking out of the cookie cutter mold in sharp fashion is the title track, rolling effortlessly with addictive bell delays and morish gating. Layers graciously build a wall of sound that can’t be broken down; splintered shakers flicker above board whilst demonic vocal blurs act as rhythmic counterparts. Mor Elian’s dystopian leaning rendition still holds some stealthily euphoric aura, the heavy handed machine drum freakout a brain scattering rendering on speed. The B Side stands alone tall and proud; Larp feels like a climax at the party. Sirens flaring high as hell, the rise and fall of the bassline bouncing in tandem with driving drums, only stopping for a dramatic drumroll. An essential to top off a seriously stunning first record from Drua, get it before he blows up!
Can you hear the hoofs? For their first Various Artist Compilation, Espace Noir is proud to bring to its stables some of the most daring riders in the scene. All the way from Canada come Unknown Mobile and Maara. They join Melbourne (Naarm) favourites Mabel and Reflex Blue. The result? Stomping 303 lines, spaced out vocals and punching breaks that might just knock you off your saddle. Giddy up cowboy, these equine beauties are gonna take you for a real gallop.
